I finally bought my first DSLR camera after about a month of reflection, documentation, doubts and whatsoever: the Pentax Kx with a 18-55 lens.

This is at the moment the best bang for the bucks DSLR camera for less than 1000 € (I spent 500 € for a single 18-55 kit) and image quality doesn’t fear the upper tier cameras from major manufacturers. It’s moderately light, small and has all the manual function I’m lacking in my Sony DSC-HX5V compact, even if it can’t compete in video functions (720p versus 1080i).

I’m looking forward to shooting some low light scenes which is one of the settings this camera excels according to some reviews.
